How we celebrate chrismas

Christmas is a weird holiday, because of the widespread influence of Christianity, most ppl do celebrate Christmas one way or another, even for us non-believers. I suppose tw is a country heavily influenced by American culture, I think one of the former president used to study in U.S.A and actually made Christmas a public holiday, but instead of christmas, it was a celebration of his birthday. But anyway, we used to put up this huge christmas tree every year, and every christmas morning, we'll find lots of presents under the tree. I used to wonder how santa comes and give us present since there's no chimney, and mum used to say if santa can squeeze it's way through those little chimney's in America, i am sure he can climb through the window. Grandpa always take out this robotic dancing santa claus that would dance and sing it's way through the christmas. We never had a huge christmas dinner, well, having a kitchen without an oven makes any traditional christmas cooking impossible. But my auntie and family would come every christmas, and there will me all 13 of us in one house, simply enjoying the company of family. Adults would sit around the round dinner table drinking good oolong tea while us the kids would play hide in seek, super nitendo, or later on sega.

Spending christmas here is a bit different. I guess without the whole 'expanded' family here, christmas is just about spending time with the four of us. But christmas dinner became something we look forward to every year. Mum would spend a lot of time baking ham, roast chicken etc. We have a christmas tree of course, a plastic one from the warehouse. And due to recent year of laziness, it only get taken out like... on average once every 3 years. Presents still get placed under the tree during the years when the trees did get taken out, and christmas cards that we receive goes on the tree as decorations. We have christmas dinner on 24th or 25th depending on how we feel, and christmas nights usually consists of driving around to look at christmas lights decorations and movies. Yup that's pretty much sums up how we celebrate christmas, simple and cosy, just the way I like it. ^^

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

p.s. if you have time, do check out the christmas lights on chapel road and the parade. It's simply spectacular

Myth destroyed?!?!

Mum has always been a very health conscious person, and she always finds new
bizaare way of staying healthy. Like... about 10 years ago, she was really
into eating black beans, the raw ones, and she had to like.. swallow 40 of them
each day and it was suppose to keep her healthy as well as prevent her hair
from goign white etc... but needless to say that stopped after a while.

But as far as i can remember, mum always believed that drinking vinegar is
really good for you, that of which i can neither confirm nor deny. But the
weird thing is, she always have this concept that vinegar is alkaline @____@
(and well, also don't know how true this is, but a lot of ppl are saying how if
you keep your blood pH on slight alkaline it's better for your health) which is
weird right? coz vinegar taste sour!!! I had numerous debate with her and
she's keep saying how maybe once it enters your body it'll turn into alkaline.

Then recently following the whole staying with alkaline food thing, she found on
the net that lemon water is also slight alkali @_@, so i took samples from home
and tested it and guess what.. it's pH 3.7, and vinegar is pH 3.5.

So after I went home and told mum... she seemed... really.. confused. And at
night she was flipping through all her health books to see where she got the
idea from. It was the weirdest thing..I guess it's like when ppl lost faith in
something they have strong believed for a long time, and now all the effort
they made before seemed well... lost.... maybe... i should've just.. kept
quiet.... *shrug*

All I know is.. from today onwards... if i want lemon water, i have to make it
myself :P

AND.... dad gave me 2 samples of his espresso to see if they are alkali or
acidic ^^: I hope i can 'sneakily' do it without ppl wondering why the lab
smells like coffee :P

*blinks*

Ok... i understand that i have $1000 fund to spend on my project, but when I
have to spend it on magnetic stirrer coz apparently we dont' have any.. any
reagent bottles coz we don't have enough... that i found a bit... how should i
say this... Ridiculous? And then coz i am gonna use the GC column, which need
helium gas, apparently I have to 'contribute' towards purchasing a tank... and
this is the best part... it costs $700+ *blinks* and i have alreayd spent
$193........ sure....... this project is SOOOOO do-able. So now I have to
'carefully' determine ALL the apparatus that i might need and buy it? *blinks*
either the department is really out of funding or I feel like i am being
used... oh well~~~

WOW~~~

HEY~~~ this is soooo cool~~ i can blog using my email~~~ you know what that
means???? i can.. officially.. .blog without having to worry that i'll get
caught (A) too bad the font colour thign doens't work tho.. oh well~~~

So.. let's start this blog with the bus driver.. and yes there are weird bus
drivers around. Ok.. todays wasn't too bad, but when i entered the bus i was
like.. wow.. the air con is on so strong. Then this passenger walked up to her
and tell her to turned it down, which she did (thank goodness) until when we
were at mechanics bay, then she, for some reason turned it back up again... and
hoenstly for the next 10 minutes i felt like i was sitting in a 4 degrees
fridge @_____@

Oh~~ had a really fattening weekend. start off with Lunch at Hammerheads, which
was really really awesome~ the food was really tasty, and i mean everythign we
ordered was spectacular. The bill incidently was also spectacular (was my xmas
present to my family) but we did have crayfish so can't really complain there,
but i mean, anyone who wants a fancy dinner, the mains are around $31.00-$35.00
unless if you get the platter, so it's not that bad. Oh and if you do go...
their Vanilla bean Panna Cotta is divine~~

Sat night was Matt's 'surprise' 21st party, yes, well, all our plans behind the
curtains (literally) to jump out at him and sing happy birthday all failed when
*cough* certain organiser said "ok guys you can come out now" lol~~ but seems
like he had fun and thats' all that matters. His birthday cake was soooo cool
tho... ok.. the candles on this birthday cake was really cool, it's in the
shape of little smiley faces and champagne bottles. It was well organised, I
had fun girl ^^

Then following morning, I went to Tina's house to bake an oreo cheesecake. The
recipe as Annie described "very naughty" considering how the filling contains
cream cheese (which is 2/3 'lite' cream cheese) eggs, sugar and a bit of
vanilla essence and of course oreo biscuit chunks.. yup.. that's it~~ naughty
right? but the cake was soooooo nice~~~ Before i was gonna experiment and make
an yoghurt set cake, but now~~ i am just thinkign if i should try and make that
cake and just replace some of the cream cheese with yoghurt. yummy~~~~ (yea..
we ate all the cake and i still have cravings for it)

Then at night we had a family bbq, which needless to say was good, the ages
sirloin steak was sooo nice~~ then there's lamb kebab, chicken, shrimp,
mashroom etc etc....

Needless to say now i feel like i am 10 pounds heavier and am going to gym today
lol

Have a good day ppl~

New Bus Driver

I finally found the express bus that goes up to Symond street. ^___^ but the bus driver this morning was new, she's really nice tho, but as expected on the first day she's kinda still struggling to keep it all together, she drives comparatively a lot slower than the other drivers, but safe~ like she turns the corners really slowly.~~~ Actually i reckon they gave her a hard time starting her first bus routine with a express 53~~ coz the route for 53 is quite different, even a 54 would've been a more "usual" route to take.

But anyway.. yay~~ dotn' have to walk up anymore ^__^
