First lecture

Yup, just finished my first lecture, it was well.. really different. I seriously have not seen such a high white to asian ratio since... intermediate. @___@ It's actually a smaller class than the AU foodsci class, the lecturer seem to know everyone quite well. ,apart from that... I feel like a transfer student.. ok.. i AM a transfer student, finding it so hard to ..er... to fit in.. but i guess i just have to try harder. Really missing my foodsci buddies at this moment. And seriously need to start on my..er.. assingment.. due on monday... heheh will blog later on tonight if i get the chance

1st day at Massey

Yup it's 11:30 and i am done for the day already... ok.. technically i have no lectures today, just here sorting out my papers, seeing the ppl i need to see... I actually accidently forgot to ask someone to sign my enrolment form before i handed it in (A) i hope the person in charge wont' notice (A)

Ok... so currently i am in the library, and I was wrong about the computers, they do have LCD screens, heheh starring at a 17 inch LCD screen right now and what appears to be free internet!! could that even be possible? but i've checked there's nothign like net account etc popping up, and i even do a search on net account, internet access etc and nothing mentions anything so... i guess if i suddenly get cut off it'll be because of that. :P

I am really happy with my papers, except for the fact that i'll probabily die in the 2nd sem with so much work. But then that means i'll be really relaxed this sem, ok, i have 2 2 hour lectures on tuesdays, a meeting with lecturer presumbly weekly on mondays, then there's blocks for the research practice from time to time. But then since one of my paper is kinda extramural, that means i alot of self study i guess, in fact i have an assingment already which is due next monday. At the moment my research project is either developing "what comes after jam" with Watties (dont' ask, i have nooooo idea what that's about either) or develope foodies for old ppl, and thast' with dairy industry. I'll be basically doing that with their 4th year students which is great, because the facilities is kinda prioritised to those students, so that means i'll be in the same boat as the rest of them.

So that means on wednesday i'll have the WHOLE day to settle down in my new new room ^___^

Anyway.. miss everyone heaps.. see.. i have nothign to do but bum around, and there's no one to bum aroudn with me *sniff* and and and... this campus is so..er.... weird that i am lost 60% of the time.... there's no one to direct me, or be lost with me.

Oh and Finally here's a msg to all those who are currently throwing tantrums at me for not telling you that i am leaving.. I am very very sorry, but because I made my final decision a day before i had to leave, i really didnt' have time to organise anything or even to tell everyone of my plans. However, I will be back in April. So dont' worry, I'll still be around. ^^

1st Day in Palmy all by myself

yup... i have been officially been by myself here for 24 hours. And so far things are going good. Well apart from the fact i haven't really settle down. But Tuesday, my big move in day is just 2 nights away. So far i've been staying with my landlord. She was out of town all day yesterday, so it was great! had her little place all by myself ^^ the only downside is... i bet there's like heaps and heaps of fleas around. got so many bites already @_____@ But so far there's no spiders.. so it's not too bad. Tonight she's coming back so don't know where i'll sleep. might have to sleep on her couch but that's ok.

Palmy is indeed a small town, but within this small town there's 2 shopping malls, a cinema (with tickets just $8 on normal days!!!!), a theatre, 2 asian supermarkets, and so far i've discovered one pearl milk tea place. i am happy to say most of these things are within walking distance to my flat. ok.. some of them maybe require 20 mins of walk, but can't really complain can i :P Tho i have to say.... it's one windy town... to the point that from now on, i think i'll have my hair tied up everytime i leave the house, or else i'll keep end up eating my own hair :P

Anyway so my mission today is to see how long it takes me to walk to supermarket and the mall, buy an insecticide (yes one of the truely essential thing i need) and maybe invest in a laundry basket... hm.. yea.. think i'll need it.

Miss everyone heaps. wish i have someone to explore the town with me. HEY!!! why dont' all you guys come here and study at massey :P free bus, free bike rentals, cheap rents, and $6 movies on tuesdays!!!! lol

This is so cool~

Ok, think i blogged about this but few months ago we saw a movie crew filming around our area. My mum and me walked there and saw them fiming this 'wired' guy jumped from front door, to balcony then into the house like.. for hours ok. and guess what!! by accident I SAW THAT MOVIE TODAY!!! how cool was that!!!

So the movie was Wendy Wu and home coming warrior on Disney channel in celebration of chinese new year of course. The movie was ok.. nothing fantastic, but it was sooo cool to see like they uses locations that i know well, like auckland museum, albert park, the streets in front of our house etc. The movie screens again on friday at 8:30 on disney channel if anyone wants to check it out ;)

So anyway.. Happy Chinese *oink* New Year everyone ^^ hope this year is great for everyone.

After procrastinating for about half a year, i FINALLY got new pair of glasses :D in a trendy purple. Yup, i've gone from frameless to full frame. hahaha i bet i look REAL geeky. The eye examination was good, my eyesight didn't get worse :D So anyway.. next time, prepare to see a superly geeky looking lucy LOL

On a side note. sneakily played a bit of FFXII. all i can say is man that game is hardcore! think i'll wait for it to come out in NZ before i play it tho. Which is end of Feb.... bleh~ I guess i'll just have to wait till middle of the year when i have decent amount of holidays before i start.

Yea i haven' tbe blogging for ages.. because the thing i wanted to blog about gives me a headache everytime i think about it.

3 years ago i made a decision to stay in Auckland even though I knew Massey have a well more established food tech course. I don't look back on my decisions, but here I am.. at a place where i can make choices.

The fact is... I am not comfortable with the environemnt in uoa, don't get me wrong, the people are very nice, the lectueres have a lot of faith in me, in fact perhaps more than i deserve. BUT it doesn't take away the fact that they are all waaaaaaaaaaaaay too busy. And because there are essentially only 2 of them, they are usually not specialised enough to well... help us on our project i guess. Call me dependent, but i HATE the feeling of when i am stuck on something that when i do get the chance to talk to my supervisor, although she doesnt' do that intentionally, i feel like i am a big burden that's wasting her valuable time, and while she'll give me advice on what i should do, she's really doesn't know enough in that field for it to be a constructive advice. Ok... so here's the thing, everyone tells me honours is a hardout year, i am ok with that, BUT i want to make sure that it's worth all that.

So I am again stuck with 2 choices, Uoa or Massey
and yes i 've checked with choices overseas, and sad to say a 3 year degree isn't really sufficient

So auckland is the obvious choice, I know the ppl, i'll have supervisors that knows me well, i'll be living from home, and well i guess an honours degree sounds more 'glamerous'. BUT i'll have do the project on my own, not to mention i am unhappy with the paper choices

Massey on the other hand is only a postgrad dip which means no matter how good my grades are, i can never skip masters to do a phD, i don't know anyone there, and i'll be well... living by myself. But they do have papers that i really like, and from what i've heard they have 10 lecturers in their department and living by myself will be a really big learning experience. And get down to it, i know Massey's strength lies within catering ppl specifically for the industry, and that's always been my aim....

So yes.... dont' knwo where i'll be this year, i do know i shud make a decision soon enough.
