Yup yup, i've moved to a smaller, cosy room, for a cheaper price of $100. That means an extra $20 to spend on foods every week. And and... since it's not so big, which means it's brighter. Only thign is.. outside my window is where my landlord's dog's cage. Tho that lucky dog sleep with the landlord most of the time so hopefully i won't hear it's snore during the night. ^^; Anyway.. here's some fotos of my new room, sry for the quality, my fone camera isn't too great at taking fotos where the lighting is limited.

New Perspective
Living here is really giving me a whole new perspective on things. I mean, i always known i am a very lucky person, I have a wonderful family, a nice tight group of friends, the most caring and loving bf and I guess i never have to worry about anything except just to concentrate on study. But being here, I am surrounded by many who has to work so much harder.
I thought I was very brave for coming down here by myself, I am by all means going out of my comfort zones, but when i compare myself with other ppl, it's nothing. They've come from an entirely different country by themselves, their parents didn't come with them to make sure that everythign is settled down, and heck when they came, a lot of them can't even really speak the language well.
Ever since i am here, i thought i am well, i guess more mindful about how i spend my money. I mean, i try to keep a budget so that I can pay the part of my fees (which is damn expensive) not covered by scholarship, by the end of the year without eating into my savings nor asking parents to cover it (even tho dad already said he would). So before i woudl not think twice about buying food that are better branded, but now... it's like.. pams, budget etc I mean, i've been eyeing bluff oysters since i've heard it on the news that it was a good season this year, but.... $20.95 a dozen just isn't worth it when i can buy food for 2-3 days with the same amount. So here i am thinking how.. well more strigent i am with financial things... and then... i see my flatmates.. working 5 days a week just to cover their living costs, and on top of that, one of them is basically eating carbo with veges! and that's it @____@ no meats!!!
Then the other day my the couple who lives that the other section of the house came in while we were watchign tv, asking if it was raining, and I was like "go pick up your girlfriend from work, even if it's not raining, it might soon" he hesitated, then went. And there I was thinking, if i had to work night shift till like 10pm, there's no way my parents, nor slowpoke would let me walk home alone, even if it's just 5 minutes.
So what i've realized here, really truely for the first time, the magnitude of how lucky i truely am. And for that... i am truely... really grateful. Thank you everyone, for making my life as wonderful as it is. ^___^

Cultural festival~~
Today is the annual cultural festival at Palmy, so of course me went to check it out. In fact, went and check it out with Annie. So.... I guess it kinda reminds me of.. howick in the park.... there's a lot of food stalls, and a stage at front with ppl er... dancing/singing weird songs :P Oh~ and there were heaps of stalls that sell like.. necklace, clothes and things, but they are not particularly cheap, so didn't really had a good look. The food i guess is what you expect from an event such as this, satays, fried rice, won tons, spring rolls and the list goes on and on, and the best thign of all is NO SUPER LONG CUES!!! was great, i meant i only have to wait on average 2 or 3 ppl before i get served, so unlike the jap festivale in auckland that i went.... super super long cues... so anyway guess what did Lucy end up buying? HOT DOGS!!! you know.. the ones fried in batter (A) been craving for that for ages... so even at a ridiculous price of $2.50, i bought it. :P ok.. had a phillipino satay pork too which was nice. ^^
The suprise thing was i saw one of the lecturer from AU, Conrade Perara? ok.. somethign along that line. His family know Annie quite well, so they were chatting, and me, er.. being blur and blank was just thinking "wow, annie sure knows a lot of ppl" then she's like.. hey you know conrad right? *me looked up* OH YEAH~~~~~~ I KNOW HIM!!! :P had a chat with him, and was really glad when he said (whether he actulaly think so or not) that i made a good choice of coming here if i want to work with industry. Always good to have someone with his kind of background to er agree with my choice. ^_____^
Anyway.. off to read more on gurus... and not the indian ones :D

In the face of defeat
Defeat is when.... I can SMELL Raid all over the kitchen and living room, I can SEE flies corpse everywhere, and yet, 3 flies, innocently flying happily around..... and that is with our rubbish bin COVERED with a paperbox. hm... well.. at least Shulin is convinced that once the weather is colder, all flies will just.. disappear.... *fingers crossed*
And just giving you an idea of how humid the weather's been, i did laundry on friday MORNING, and all my clothes like jeans, towel etc are still wet ^^:

Fly attack
Yes.. just sprayed the ENTIRE kitchen and living room, coz it is now in a state of.. infestion with flies @__@ my flatmate Shulin killed about 4 this morning, but there were still like heaps around. When i just went spraing like mad, i swear there's like.. more than 10 flies @____@ my goodness!!!. Ahn my other flatmate suggested to invest in a bin where there's a top, so we'll stop attracting flies... and at this moment? i think that's a really brilliant idea! do not like cooking with flies around, and hate even more having to spray toxic chemicals around places where i need to eat and prepare food!

RaNdOm PiC
Randomly decided to take a pic of my dinner to show ppl that i am indeed not starving myself here :P So that's hm.. rice with chicken plus "hollow vege" in bbq sauce, with er.. eggs and spring onions... yup... man.. beginning to think i am too nice to myself.. might need to diet soon :P
ANYWAY.. there was an earthquake just then, compared to the one up in Auckland few weeks ago it was HUGE ok, it felt like something from under the ground was running through the entire house @____@ freaked me out alright. Then my flatmate's gf kindly told me it's normal, it happens ALL the time. ^^: I guess i better get use to frequent earthquakes :P

So here i am again
Sitting in the library waiting for my next class. Tho, suppose to have lunch with classmate after she finishes her group meeting. I guess things here are pretty much settle down now. I know this coz there are less things to blog about :P
Flating is a weird thing.... the thing is.. most of the times I am the only one home, which can be really creepy at night. I guess the only times I dont' feel really comfortable at home is when Luke (landlord's son) is home. Which is a good thing that he almost always stays at his girlfriend's place. Last weekend him and his girlfriend + her 2 kids stayed over, and man in the mornings were they loud :P 2 tvs on, kids screaming. But those 2 girls are sooooo cute~~ hehe they pretend the bed mat is a wall and build a fortress around the sofa :P kinda reminds me of when I was little, used to play really similar role playing games with my couz. But then after they left the house, I had to vacuum everythign coz there was coco pops EVERYWHERE!!!
I find myself... spending an hour on cooking+ eating dinner each day. Try to put some effort into cooking proper foods now so that when busy time comes i can fall back on the convenient foods. Also getting a lot better at cooking rice now~ thanks to many helpful advice from ppl~~ Had curry with rice yesterday and it was only just slightly undercooked ^____^ heheh gonna get there soon!
Other than that.. i guess things are goign well, still wake up every morning having a disbelief that i am here. But heck, here I am~ happy and content with my choice, except that i really really REALLY miss everyone in Auckland... man i wish i can fly all of you guys down here to be with me :P but in 5 weeks time, guess who'll be back in Auck ;)
