Yummy~~~
I had my first buffalo wings last night. Actually I made Danny cook it for me and it was YUMMY~~~~ The skin was perfectly crispy, even after drenching in the tangy sauce. It was finger licking delicious!!! and really it was quite simple, just takes a while because you have to steam it and then bake it. It was so good that neither of us remembered to take pictures of it before it was all gone!!! HAHAHA OOOOOPS
I've been to a couple of nice restaurants recently so I thought I'll write my litte own restaurant review.
We went to Soto, a Japanese restaurant in Ponsonby. The food their is really nicely cooked Japanese cuisine but served in a rather European way. In fact, it is probabily the most fusion fine dining Jap restaurant I've been to. But the food is absolutely delicious!!! The most memorable dish had to be good old teriyaki chicken sushi which usually I am not a fan off. It is usually dry and hard, I would go for a fish one anyday. But the one at Soto was so juicy and succulent, and they had just the right balance of sauce and the rice. It was yummy!! Another dish I really liked was tuna steak with sliced courgette. Tuna I guess is quite a rich fish, the courgette lightened the whole dish up, giving it a really refreshing touch. Overall great restaurant but the price is on the high side even for a Japanese restaurant, good thing the company paid. :D p.s. I've noticed it's on the new entertainment book this year!!
For our 4th year anniversary, Danny and I went to Dine by Peter Gordon. The first thing I noticed about the restaurant is the decoration. I think it's a really classy form of American bistro style with cushiony seats all along the both side of the wall, and nice leather couches in the middle. And there were 2 huge lighting hanging from the ceiling which were just amazing piece of art. Each light formed a huge ring hanging in mid air with little spot lights all around it's ring. The food itself is heavily oriental influenced. Across the whole menu you could see Asian ingredients used in almost every dish, miso, curry, soy sauce etc. The service was awesome, we ordered an entree to share, and they actually served it to us in 2 seperate bowls! The food is great, I really enjoyed the whole fusion of western and eastern cuisine. The food was a little salty for my liking though, but overall a really nice dining experience.
The last place restaurnt is Toto, an italian restaurant in city, which mum and I sampled for my birthday. The decoration is again quite something. I am by no means expert on artchitecture but it definately looks like something you see in a period film in the movies. The food is fantastic, and the service is awesome. We ordered an octopus caparccio for starter and it came on this huge glass plate with thin pieces of octopus layed out beautifully on the bottom of the plate. It almost looked as if it was part of the mosaic pattern of the plate. The gnocchi and the snapper we had for mains were really tasty. The snapper was pan fried and served with cous cous in a light fish broth. That had to be the first brothy application I've tasted in a Western style restaurant and it was light and fresh with a slight hint of the sea. :)
And that concludes my 3 very brief restaurants reviews... bye bye for now. :D
