Foodsci and MARS?!?!?!?!
yup~~ and i am not referring to the chocolate bar either.
Ok... so here's the story, one of the topic in Food Preservation paper is "emerging technology" where the concept of ohmic heating, microwave, high pressure processing etc were covered. Relevant enough right? until when I looked at 2003 exam question on this topic.
"By 2025 the American Space Program plans to have ppl travel to Mars. What foods and processing methods (including possibly new foods and new technology) do you think the space ship should carry and what should be grown on the ship? Assume there will be 50 passsengers and crew and the voyage coudl take up to 6 months in each direction and it is planned to explore Mars for 6 months before returning."
Needless to say, i burst out laughing upon reading this question. LOL i have a feeling the old man got so bored of reading boring exam script that he decided to set a totally..er... unconventional type quesiton. Be an excellent question to just.. blah about i must say, with very minimal foodsci knowledge too. Anyway, at the end of the day, i am just thankful that there are other options available to answer.
